Introducing the courses I'm contribute to ... and saying something about what I've taught in the past |
|||||
The Open University is a distance learning
higher education institution, offering courses at all degree levels.
I'm a member of the Religious Studies central academic team. I.e., I'm
part of the group that writes teaching material, oversees the production
of audio-visual resources, advises the tutors who have contact with
students out in the regions, oversees the process of assessing student
work, etc. etc. |

| In short, I don't do “teaching” in lecture-theatres and seminar rooms as academics in other universities do. So, what follows is about the courses I'm involved in to some extent. | |||||
| In my previous job I did do “teaching” in the more traditional style. So, after the Open University material, I've noted the modules and programmes I contributed to in Winchester. | |||||

| AA100 | a new course, “introduction to the arts”, currently being produced by a team drawn from all the departments of the Faculty of Arts that will form the first course students will study from 2008 onwards. My contributions to this include co-authoring a unit on “Sacred space and landscape” (with Marion Bowman) and a little about “religion at the seaside” | its too early to
offer any more info |

| A217 | a second level course “introducing religions”. I've prepared the Judaism component of this — I've written a study guide, co-ordinated the Judaism portion of a DVD, recorded an interview for the CD, etc. | ![]() |

| AD317 | a third level course “Religion Today: Tradition, Modernity and Change” for which I'm the course chair. | ![]() |
