at Avebury

Sun rise from the northern inner circle of Avebury

(around 5am thanks to the ridge of the Downs)

soon after dawn a series of amazing rainbows bridged the worlds with a celebration of light and water

the cove, ash, & Avebury church

the limes, pub and antique shop at the heart of everything

beech roots hold the bank by the eastern gate - one of several trees and groves decorated with ribbons by lovers and other celebrants

Avebury from Windmill Hill - Silbury at the right, the circles among the trees in the centre, all held in a bowl by surrounding hills

again, Avebury in the rain from Windmill Hill
(and a jolly good "Wessex" photo I reckon).

The day before solstice

brightening up in the southeast quadrant

ewe and ewe in the southwest quadrant

Slug and snail festival near the Kennet near Silbury

Oak rag-tree by Kennet below West Kennet Longbarrow

West Kennet blocking stones, view north

sarsens cross the Kennet by Swallowhead spring
